Melissa Markus and Matthew Chutjian

Kathy and Martin Markus of Amherst announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Markus, to Navy Corpsman Matthew Chutjian, son of Helena and Matthew Chutjian of Summerville, S.C.

Miss Markus is a 2002 graduate of Williamsville North High School and earned a degree in childhood education from Fredonia State College in 2006. She is a fifth-grade teacher at Leesville Road Elementary School in Raleigh, N.C.

Her fiance is a 2002 graduate of Hamburg High School and attended Fredonia State College. On deployment in Iraq, he is expected to return home in October.
