Carissa Scioli and Julian Chinana

Mary and Anthony Scioli III of East Amherst announce the engagement of their daughter, Carissa Scioli, to Julian Chinana, son of Dorothee Otero and Richard Chinana, both of Albuquerque, N.M.

Miss Scioli is a 2001 graduate of Williamsville North High School. She received a degree in childhood and special education from Geneseo State College in 2005 and is studying for a master's degree in the literacy specialist program at the University at Buffalo. She had been a special education teacher at a Marine Corps base in Hawaii where she met her fiance.

Her fiance is a 2002 graduate of Cibola High School and plans to attend Niagara County Community College this fall. He served four years in the Marine Corps as a sniper, deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan.

A July 2007 wedding is planned.
