Janet and Richard Root of Clarence announce the engagement of their daughter, Tami Lyn Root, to Michael James Holihan, son of Alice and James Holihan of Fairport, N.Y.

Miss Root is a 1999 graduate of Clarence Senior High School. She received her bachelor's degree in English and art studio from Geneseo State College in 2003. She received a master's degree in English from the University of Rochester. She is a data control clerk.

Her fiance is a 1998 Fairport High School graduate. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Geneseo State College in 2002. He received a master's in business administration from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is a marketing manager.

A March 2008 wedding is planned.
