Books purchased from April 20-22 at Barnes & Noble support schools

This coming weekend is the time to pick up a new book and also support the schools in Western New York. From April 20-22, the Erie 1 BOCES School Library System is participating in a statewide Barnes & Noble Voucher Book Fair.

Purchasing a new book, DVD or any store merchandise from a Barnes & Noble location on those dates will help WNY schools retain an Internet resource.

The Internet tool, Teaching- Books.net, is an online book resource for grades kindergarten through 12. In addition to allowing students to electronically "meet" the author of a book, the program includes projectable movies, interactive slide shows, in-depth written interviews, comprehensive bibliographies and relevant links.

Erie 1 BOCES School Library System has been able to provide this resource to WNY school districts on a pilot basis.

Barnes & Noble has agreed to contribute a portion of the proceeds from every book sale, accompanied with a Book Fair voucher, to this cause. In addition, the school with the highest participation will receive a $500 gift card for its school library.

To obtain a Barnes & Noble Book Fair voucher, visit the school library or ask for a voucher from the store's sales counter.

Barnes & Noble locations in Amherst are: 7370 Transit Road, near Main Street, and 1565 Niagara Falls Blvd., Suite 1.
