Amherst gymnasts post high scores at March Madness meet

Five representatives from Amherst competed in the March Madness gymnastics meet hosted by Rines Gymnastics in West Seneca.
The girls are members of the Level 5 team at Stumpf's Gymnastics Center, where they train under Denise Wiesner and Kim Black. The girls' efforts helped Stumpf's win a third-place compulsory team award and propelled a few to individual honors in the event finals.
Lacey Woite of Snyder had a career day on the uneven bars, where she executed a stellar routine, earning a 9.700. Woite was crowned the uneven bars champion in addition to winning fourth-place ribbons on floor exercise and vault. Woite finished the day with an all-around score of 36.775 to win second place.
Teammate Rebecca Reinhardt of Getzville also had an outstanding day, earning some of her highest scores of the season.
In the event finals, Reinhardt earned a sixth-place ribbon on vault and seventh on balance beam. Reinhardt's all-around score of 35.350 was a career-high and earned fifth in the competition.
The Williamsville trio of Madeline Meyer, Jackie Schactner and Emily Schulenberg posted strong scores for their rookie season. Meyer stuck her bar routine on a day that saw many competitors fall and earned her highest all-around score of the season. Schactner posted her highest floor score of the season and earned an eighth-place ribbon on vault. Schulenberg earned career high scores on floor and uneven bars and finished with a personal-best all-around score.
