The Harlem Wizards will face a team of Williamsville South students and teachers handpicked by the South class of 2008 and called the Village Warriors in a trick hoops basketball event from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 18 at the new gym at Williamsville South High School, 5950 Main St.

Tickets are $10 students/children and $12 adults and are available at the door.

The Greater Buffalo Gymnastic and Fitness Center, 1641 North French Road, Getzville, will be holding clinics on April 18 and 25 for its new all-star elite cheerleading program in preparation for a tryout at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 6. Free pizza and pop will be served to all participants after the clinics. The program is for anyone ages 6 to 18. The cheerleaders will be under the direction of choreographer and advisor Missy Alteri, head coach Rachel Crooks and tumbling coach Tom Groom.

Open registration is under way for the Buffalo Wings Roller Hockey League's spring/summer house season.

Registration will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Monday, April 16, Monday, April 23 and Tuesday, April 24; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 21; and 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 25 and Thursday, April 26 at the Amherst Pepsi Center, 1615 Amherst Manor Dr. The registration deadline is April 28.

The league has divisions at the 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U, and Adult Copper, Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.

The cost is $1,250 per youth team, which includes jerseys, and $1,195 per adult team.

Williamsville South baseball coach Brian Hansen will throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the University at Buffalo baseball team's May 5 game against Miami (Ohio).

Hansen, inducted into the UB Hall of Fame in 1983, was a member of the Bulls from 1966 to 1968, where he was twice a first-team All-American.

In 1967, Hansen led the nation in batting with a .533 average. Over his three years, Hansen averaged .506, landing him a spot in the Philadelphia Phillies organization, where he played for four years. Hansen was also given the UB Scholar-Athlete Award.

Flotilla 33, Buffalo, is offering America's Boating Course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, April 21 at St. Patrick's Church Hall, 1395 George Urban Blvd., Cheektowaga.

This general boating course meets New York State education requirements for jet-ski operation and qualifies youth ages 10 to 18 to legally operate a conventional vessel alone on NYS waters. Anyone who successfully completes the course is eligible to receive a discount on their boat insurance.
