Thief rummages through car; wants to smell good

(Editors note: The Bee's police blotter is a sampling of unusual, sometimes humorous calls received by the police department. It is not intended to be a complete record of all incidents reported.)

Friday, March 30

+ Someone reported seeing youths walking down Golden Pheasant Drive carrying cases of beer. The suspects were gone when police arrived.

+ Police responded to a report of suspicious persons on Margaret Road. Two teen males were looking into the complainant's car windows. There was no problem; the two were trying to scare their girlfriends. All were advised.

+ An Eiss Place resident reported hearing loud screaming from a neighboring home. It was a father and daughter playing basketball.

+ A witness reported that a man got out of his car on North Bailey Avenue, looked around, put on rubber gloves and then went to the trunk, got out an envelope and put it in a mailbox.

+ A welfare check was requested for a retired individual on West Foxpoint Drive because the person in question was hanging out the window and yelling. Police responded and discovered the individual was just talking on the phone.

Saturday, March 31

+ A Maple Road business manager complained that three males in their 20s damaged the restroom and left in a red car. The business was able to provide the license plate number.

+ Police were called about youths drinking beer in a car on North French Road. When the patrol responded they discovered a can of Cherry Pepsi was being consumed.

+ On Union Road, a woman reported that her wedding ring was stolen from the women's restroom at her place of employment.

+ A vehicle parked on Wagon Wheel Drive was egged and hot fudged overnight.

Sunday, April 1

+ A woman on Shellridge Drive complained that three youths with BB or pellet guns pointed a gun at her and her dog. They were also shooting stop signs.

+ Police were called about a male wearing a yellow rain jacket who threw a bike at the manager of the Original Pancake House on Niagara Falls Boulevard. The individual reportedly left on foot.

+ A resident on Sunset Court reported that the mailbox had been damaged for the third time in a week and a half.

+ A large plastic pool was causing road obstruction on Interstate 290 between I-990 and Millersport Highway. Also, a swing from a swing set was moved to the shoulder.

+ A clerk at a Maple Road store found a purse containing valuables and contacted police. The purse had been reported stolen on March 31, and the owner was contacted.

Monday, April 2 + A hit and run accident was reported at TGI Friday's on Niagara Falls Boulevard. A garbage truck reportedly hit a wall, which was recorded on video.

+ A manager at Red Lobster on Maple Road reported finding rock cocaine in a booth.

+ A man reported that two males were asleep in sleeping bags inside a Main Street building in the Ed Young's Plaza on March 31. The patrol spoke with the owner, who stated that no one sleeps there.

Tuesday, April 3

+ A motorist on Maple Road reported that his car was almost struck by another vehicle, and when the complainant looked up, he saw the driver of the other car passing a bong to the passenger.

+ Auto larceny was reported on Alberta Drive. An iPod, cable and a bottle of cologne were taken.

+ A resident of Wayne Avenue complained that two teens were jumping on a rail with inline skates and were continuing to do it even though the complainant asked them to stop. The complainant thought it was an unsafe situation.

Wednesday, April 4 + A Sheridan Drive store employee reported the existence of a videotape of someone walking out of the store with hockey gloves under a jacket.

+ On Meadowview Lane, a contractor reported that his tools were still in a house where he had been working because the homeowner canceled the work but would not return the tools. The complainant went to the home with officer assistance and collected the tools.

+ On Burbank Drive, someone stole three green plastic garbage cans that contained yard waste.

Thursday, April 5

+ A Sheridan Drive store employee was locked inside the building with a dead cell phone. The night crew was expected to arrive shortly after the report was made.

+ A car full of teens reportedly swerved, attempting to hit two other youths on Hopkins Road. The car in question had a North High School parking permit, and the car was heading toward the school. The report stated that the teens in the car were laughing as they pulled away.

+ A Millersport Highway store clerk described a group of youths who bought a dozen eggs, as well as the car they drove, in case anyone reports their house was egged.
