Buffalo In-line Hockey Group
Bandits break through

Do some Buffalo In-Line Hockey teams play better in early or later games? It varies from team to team but one thing for certain is that the Black Aces of the major division of BIHG takes a while to wake up.

Last Saturday the 8 a.m. game pitted the Aces against the Bandits. The Bandits were firmly entrenched in the basement of the division and were looking for their first win.

Five minutes into the game saw the Bandits take a 3-0 lead. The Bandits, led by Vinnie Amoia, and Nick Shearer (Kenmore) increased the lead to 5-1 before the Aces woke up. The line of Calvin Waley (Cheektowaga), Ryan Okon (Cheektowaga), Zac Robinson (Cheektowaga and David Campuzano stormed back and with 13 seconds left in regulation, tied the game with a Waley goal. The game went to a shootout and the Bandits earned their first win when Phil Cultrera scored.

Junior Division

Blackhawks 11, Blades 7

Jimmy Basil (Amherst, two goals, three assists), Christian Curtola (Amherst, hat trick) and Jonathan Meyers (Tonawanda, two goals, three assists paced the Hawks to the win. Dave Milbrand (Tonawanda) was a positive factor for the Blades

Junior Division

Heat 10, Red Raiders 6

Matt Guiga continued his strong play for the Heat as he registered a hat trick. P.J. Anders (Williamsville) and Aiden Abraszek (Amherst) were strong contributors in the win. Nick Antoniadas (Amherst) and Zac Wieand (Amherst) each scored twice for the Raiders.

Junior Division

Demons 12, Ghosts 8

Kevin Eberth (Cheektowaga) has already been named player of the week twice this season and he continued to make his case for league MVP as he had a double hat trick for the Demons. Jesse VanDyne (Kenmore) and Ryan Owarczyck (Amherst) helped Eberth and the Demons to this win. They had to be strong to overcome the five scores from the Ghosts' Josh Vaccarro (Amherst).

Major Division

Machine 15, Berets 6

League-leading goal scorer Roy Wasiewicz (Cheektowaga), Brett Jablonski (Cheektowaga) led this offensive assault. The Berets didn't have an answer as they lost their second in a row.

Major Division

Blues 9, Flyers 5

The Blues have been playing well of late and continued that trend with this win. Chad Laughran (Amherst) Pat Smith (Amherst) and netminder Brett Davidson (Cheektowaga led the way in this one. Justin Banaszak (Cheektowaga) had four goals.
