Matthew M. Fredericks and Kathryn E. Hunter

Mary Jane and Edwin P. Hunter of West Seneca announce the engagement of their daughter, Kathryn E. Hunter, to Matthew M. Fredericks, son of Monica Valonis of Babylon, N.Y., and Michael Fredericks of Lockport.

Miss Hunter is a 1998 graduate of Orchard Park Central High School. She received her bachelor's degree in French from Niagara University in 2002 and her master's degree in French from the University at Buffalo in 2004. She is teaching French and pursuing her doctorate in French literature at the University of Florida.

Her fiance is a 1998 graduate of Lockport High School. He received his bachelor's degree in French from the University at Buffalo in 2004. He teaches French at St. Francis High School in Gainesville, Fla., and is pursuing his master's degree.

An August 2007 wedding is planned at Our Lady of Victory Basilica with a reception at Kotecki's Grandview Grove.
