Spartan seniors at the top of their game
by LAUREN HALL

Williamsville North Student Council proudly recognizes the outstanding achievements of two members of its senior class each month. Students featured in this column are selected by faculty recommendation. The Senior Spartan Spots for March are Elizabeth Dutweiler and Eric Przybyszewski.

Dutweiler, daughter of Fiona and Jed Dutweiler of East Amherst, is the model example of a scholar athlete. Academically ranked fifth in the class of 2007, she is also a member of National Honor Society and Math Honor Society. Last year, she earned the AP Scholar Award for high achievement on advanced placement exams.

Dutweiler devotes much of the remainder of her time to participation in sports, both at school and in the community. She has earned varsity letters on the Lady Spartans basketball and softball teams. She also plays for the Lou Gehrig Lasers tournament softball team and Amherst Youth Basketball. During her career as a high school athlete, she has also volunteered for the WNY Special Olympics and the Amherst Girls Softball league. This year, she was an assistant coach for the Amherst Youth Basketball League.

Dutweiler is a four-year member of North's vocal department, where she sings in concert choir. Next year, Dutweiler will study biology at college.

Przybyszewski, son of Janine Eaton and Stanley Przybyszewski of Getzville, also excels in academics and athletics. He is academically ranked third in the class of 2007, an AP Scholar with Honor, a member of National Honor Society and Chemistry Olympiad and serves as vice president of North's Chapter of Math Honor Society. He is co-captain of the Science Olympiad Team, which finished in first place at the regional level competition and eighth place at the state competition this year.

Przybyszewski is a member of the varsity football and varsity tennis teams. This year, he was nominated to the All-Western New York Scholar Athlete Football Team and named to the All New York State Scholar Athlete Football Team.

Outside of school and sports, Przybyszewski is a volunteer for St. Pius X Parish and Amherst Meals on Wheels.

Next year, Przybyszewski will attend Cornell University, where he will take premed and major in nutritional sciences.
