Squirt Flyers advance to Super Sunday

The Squirt Flyers won its divisional playoff game against the Rangers, 6-1, win on March 22 at the Amherst Pepsi Center to advance to Super Sunday.

The first period was dominated by the Flyers. Eric Bailey made an impressive rebound shot to score first for the Flyers. Three minutes later, teammate Mark Christy flew up the ice, took an assist from Nicholas Schiappa and lobbed one in for his team's second goal.

The second period continued with more offensive pressure from the Flyers when Amir Gulati snuck one in past the netminder to light up the scoreboard for the Flyers' third goal. Gulati was assisted by Peter Masters.

The third period saw both teams display sleek end-to-end action. The Flyers' Christy and Schiappa met up again for their team's fourth goal when Schiappa made a hard fought pass to Christy who then scored on a sweet wrist shot from the blue line.

Two minutes later, Conor Mulvey made a fifth unassisted goal for his team. Mulvey's quick stickhandling proved to be the trick to get past Ranger defense.

With thirty seconds to play, Trevor Shaw's speed skating breakaway landed the Flyers' sixth goal. Shaw was assisted by a pass from Gregory Sibick.

Rangers' goalie Nicholas Molnar had many key saves for his team and performed well under pressure.

Jason Raymondi scored the Rangers' only goal.
