Amherst Micron Select wins 2007 Pepsi tourney

The Amherst Micron Select team went undefeated at the 2007 Pepsi Hockey Invitational Little NHL 2000 Pacific Tournament. They defeated Depew, 4-1, in the finals.
The Micron Select started things off Friday night with an 8-1 win over the Regals.
Sean Macleay, who had two goals, started the scoring with Kellen Pulera assisting on one. Zach Rehbaum scored the third goal on a beautiful breakaway. Patrick Gilbert scored next off a nice feed from Macleay.
Defensemen Anthony Trigilio went end to end to put the puck in the net. Tyler Rossi had a pretty wraparound goal, assisted by Gilbert. Kevin Halpern finished things off when he went glove side. He was assisted by Gilbert and Eric Cretella.
Ben Weppner was incredible in net with the help of defensemen Elisabeth Sidorski and Calogeno Santora.
The second game against Brampton proved to be much of the same.
Weppner shut the door with a 7-0 victory. Gilbert went top shelf and scored first for Amherst. Halpern and Rossi followed his lead. Rehbaum scored twice, one goal assisted by Spencer Frome. Gilbert had another goal followed by Eli Utz, this time assisted by Halpern.
Amherst recorded another victory in its next game, a 12-0 shutout over the Erie Lions. Rehbaum got things going early in the first period with a breakaway goal.
Griffin Green scored through the five-hole to make it 2-0. Frome had a hat trick, assisted by Rehbaum and Matthew Barbolini. Rossi also had a hat trick. He was assisted by Gilbert twice and Utz. Jake Wehr went unassisted off the faceoff. Utz scored, assisted by C.J. Goss.
Halpern and Cretella each had a goal. Cretella's was assisted by Andrew Bruno. Once again, Weppner displayed great goaltending.
In the championship game, Utz started the scoring with a beautiful shot that stunned the Depew goalie. He was assisted by Halpern.
Rehbaum had a hat trick, his first goal coming off the faceoff for the game winner. The next two goals were assisted by Frome, Wehr and Barbolini. Eric Metz and Colin Mack made some great plays. Weppner was strong between the pipes.
