Indoor Soccer There were no power outages for the Amherst Revolution U-12 girls indoor soccer club team against the Lockport Lightning on Friday evening at the Epic Center. Playing its most complete team game thus far this year, the Revolution defeated the Lightning, 8-1. The Revolution, who has won nine in a row, showed tremendous fundamentals. Goaltender Francesca Carra may have been the player of the game as she made several unbelievable saves in the first half. Christine Murphy followed Carra in goal in the second half and made some great saves herself. The normally tight Lockport defense was no match for the passing game of the Revolution. Under coach Brendan Murphy, each Revolution player must play forward, midfield and defense each game to develop the necessary skills to succeed wherever they play on the field and it showed Friday. Playing superior offense and defense, the Revolution was led by Morgaine Huston, Nika Berrafato, Alicia Girard, Courtney Kramer, Katie Cohen, Shannon Doherty, Hannah Dreger, Alyssa Cartwright, Kaitlyn Neese, and Sarah Eichhorn. Scoring two goals each for the Revolution were Angela Sobotka and Annie Garcia. Carissima Cutrona, Margaux Gill, Carra and Cathryn Mohan each netted a goal. The Revolution plays its final regular season game in two weeks against the Akron Wave. |
