Greater Buffalo Level 4 girls place third at Nickel City Classic The Greater Buffalo Gymnastics & Fitness Center's Level 4 girls competition team demonstrated solid performances across the board at the Nickel City Classic held in Orchard Park. Five teams and 57 girls competed for top honors. Every member accomplished one or more personal bests. Among the girls 12 years old and up, Kathryn Dziwulski (Amherst) placed first on vault with an impressive score of 9.975, Alexandra Shillen (East Amherst) placed fourth on balance beam and third on floor exercise, and Jonnemarie Kahwaty (East Amherst) was second on vault. Alisha Sojar (Getzville) placed in three of four events to round out the 12-and-up performances. Sojar claimed the highest all-around score (37.45) and was second on floor and third on uneven parallel bars. Among the 11-year-olds, Demetria Xenos (Amherst) placed in all four events (first on vault, third on bars, beam and floor) and claimed the second-highest all-around score (37.2). Maria Pedini (Williamsville) placed second on beam and sixth on vault and earned the seventh-highest score among the 10-year-olds (34.75). Seychelle Mikofsky (Eggertsville) took home medals in all of her events (second on floor, third on bars, fourth on vault, and fifth on beam) and earned the third-highest overall score (37.35) in the 9-year-old category. Eight-year-old Rena O'Connor (Getzville) performed a nearly flawless floor routine, and Caroline Schwab (Williamsville) completed her floor round with her first back handspring. |
