All-Bee Team named; process explained Being selected for the All-Bee Team is an honor that the recipients are proud to receive, not just because it looks good, but because opposing coaches see how valuable a player each recipient is to his or her team. The voting process for the All-Bee Team is completely in the hands of the coaches of teams in the Bee's coverage area. At the end of the season, each coach was mailed a ballot and a list of nominated players from which to choose. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players. Each coach was asked to vote for an overall MVP, which is worth 15 points, a first team and a second team. Coaches then placed their first, second, third, etc., choice for the first team in descending order of importance, starting at the top, and then did the same for the second team. With the top first team pick, a player earns 10 points, down through one point for the last second team pick. The total points were compiled, which determined the order of the All-Bee Teams. The player with the most points was named the MVP, and so on in descending order. This year, nearly every coach responded for the boys' All-Bee team, while the same number of coaches responded for the girls' All-Bee team as last season. The lone boys coach not to respond was Lancaster (though Cardinal O'Hara's ballot was received past the deadline and, therefore, did not count), while girls coaches who did not respond included those from Cheektowaga Central, Iroquois, Maryvale, Mount St. Mary, and West Seneca East. The ballot from the Sacred Heart coach, like that of the Lancaster boys coach, was received past the deadline and, therefore, also did not count. |
