ELIZABETH TAUFA Reporter

+ HELLO, AMHERST - Some of you may have seen my byline in the paper before, but I've officially arrived.

While Jill Schmelzer is temporarily acting as the editor of The East Aurora Bee, I will be serving as the lifestyle reporter for The Amherst Bee.

I'm a Virginia native and a University at Buffalo graduate, and I started working for the Bee Group Newspapers right after graduation in June.

I'm always excited to do something new, and I'm looking forward to getting to know a new area. However, what I think I'll like the most will be concentrating on one paper, as opposed to the five (the Ken-Ton, Clarence, Lancaster, Depew and Cheektowaga Bees) I worked on previously. It will almost feel like a vacation from my previous months of weekly town hopping. My day planner already feels neglected.

That being said, taking over for Jill has been a tad on the daunting side, but luckily she's still in the office to help me along. However, I'm looking forward to learning more about Amherst and its residents, as well as covering the government news in the Village of Williamsville.

I'm looking forward to hearing from readers, so don't be shy. Feel free to call me at 204-4929 or e-mail me at etaufa@beenews.com with story ideas, announcements for our What's Going On section, or any other newsworthy tidbits. Anything you would have sent to Jill, you can send to me - think of us as the same person for the next six weeks. We don't look anything alike, but I'll try to fill her place as best I can until she comes home to you.
