Revolution U-12 wins eighth straight The Amherst Revolution U-12 girls indoor soccer club won its eighth straight game after defeating a tough-minded Kenmore Spirit team, 3-1, on Friday night. Revolution goaltenders Francesca Carra and Christine Murphy made some dazzling saves, holding the Spirit to one goal. The Spirit team showed good character and their goaltender was outstanding all evening. Early in the game, Cathryn Mahon was robbed of a goal when the Spirit goalie let Mahon's shot slip through her hands only to fall backward and stop the ball on the goal line. In the first half, Margaux Gill and Courtney Kramer both hit goal posts as the half ended scoreless. In the second half after falling behind 1-0, Nika Berrafato scored the Revolution's first goal when she knocked in Gill's tremendous throw in. Berrafato remained hot, scoring all three Revolution goals for her first career hat trick. The Revolution put many more shots on goal and played superior offense and defense and were led by Morgaine Huston, Annie Garcia, Courtney Kramer, Kaitlin Walsh, Katie Cohen, Shannon Doherty, Hannah Dreger, Angela Sobotka, Margaux Gill, Alyssa Cartwright, Kaitlyn Neese, Carissima Cutrona and Sarah Eichhorn. The Revolution can secure first place in the Epic Center regular season U-12 girls league with a win over the tough Lockport Lightning on Friday evening. |
