Black Sabres defeat Blue Sabres, 7-4 Black and Blue and pucks all over was the theme of Saturday's playoff game between the Black Sabres and Blue Sabres. This rivalry has been heating up all year and came down to this critical elimination match. The Black Sabres took the victory with a 7-4 final score. Kevin Halpern led the Black Sabres, poking in five goals, proving too much for Blue Sabre goalie Sal Farranto. Will Redding and Jack Smith each added a goal of their own to put the game out of reach. The Blue Sabres weren't going down easy. Eli Utz had a sweet wrist shot that climbed just over the glove of Tyler Rossi. Kellen Pulera and Calogeno and Dante Santora each added goals to keep the fight going. On both sides, defensive standouts made spectacular plays. For the Blue Sabres, Theo Gogos, Donovan McCann, Gianna Santora, Rachel Juneau, Liam Evenson, Liam Gallegher, and Alex Scarozza were battling for pucks and making great plays. Black Sabres Eric Cretella had an assist of one of Halpern's goals, while Eric Metz, John Kubiak, Ryan Chambers, Derek Andrews, Ethan Barnes, Skyler Derose, and Nick Smith all played like pros, clearing the pucks on defense, winning faceoffs that needed to be won, and riddling the opposing goalie with shots on net. |
