.Now that is what I like to hear! Roy Wixson, candidate for councilman, went to the highway department during a storm at 2 a.m. to ride along to see how things are done. He is involved. Nice job, Roy!

.Would someone in the highway department please get some money and repair North French Road going from Millersport Highway to Transit Road? There are huge potholes! I've driven on roads that have been bombed in war zones, and the roads are better than we have in Amherst. This is unacceptable.

.Why are the Amherst Police out in front of Amherst Middle School writing tickets at dismissal time, when it is already chaos there? They are creating a dangerous situation by bunching the cars up.

.I sure hope our town and village governments are meeting daily to plan their "cleanup" program for the spring. This is the time we need action, not conversation.

.Everyone, get out and clean your sidewalks! Neighbors are walking now that spring is here. Clean off those tree branches and winter mess.

.Amherst Supervisor Satish Mohan is being disingenuous with respect to his claims in connection with the abandonment of the full assessment program not impacting adversely the school taxes in the Town of Amherst. Maybe he genuinely doesn't understand the impact of his inaction with respect to yearly reassessments.

.I am an 85-year-old man. My wife and I never have more than 30 gallons of garbage and put it in a plastic bag inside a covered garbage can. I have no need for a 30-gallon capacity tote for garbage and wonder where and how I could handle it.

.At last we hear from the citizens advisory committee. I wondered if they were being muzzled because their findings were not what the supervisor had hoped. I hope we hear more from them. We need an independent point of view in Amherst!

.I noticed in last week's Bee that the Village of Williamsville Public Works laborers are all to be upgraded to motor equipment operators. Does this mean pay increases? Who's going to do the laborers' work?

.At Monday's village board meeting, the trustees voted to eliminate the laborer's position, leaving a man with 17 years of service out to dry. Why can't he be trained to move up to motor equipment operator? Is this more backdoor politics?

.Is there any hope for a community that has people in it who are too thoughtless to even bring in their garbage containers the week after the garbage has been picked up?

. What is wrong with the garbage code we have now? We still must wrap the garbage up like a Christmas present before the garbage people even pick it up.

.For the person complaining about the gas street lights in Dana Heights not working right, the entire problem is lack of maintenance, ever since the town took over the street lights from the gas company.
