Pilgrim's Landing plans ribbon cutting for Thursday

Peregrine Health Management Company of Syracuse will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Pilgrim's Landing, its fourth assisted living community in Western New York, at 5 p.m. Thursday March 22, at the facility, 410 Mill St.

This will be the first senior care community in the country to have a Roman Catholic priest assigned as a full-time live-in chaplain. The priest is the Rev. Frederick Hinton of Buffalo.

Mass will be held daily in the 300-seat chapel by Rev. Hinton, appointed to Pilgrim's by Bishop Edward U. Kmiec, and will be open to the public.

"Religion and spirituality are critically important to our residents, and it is something overlooked in our industry," President Stephen Bowman said. "The fact that the diocese made this decision not only reflects their rededication to providing pastoral care for our frail seniors and their exploding numbers but also allows us to create a uniquely spiritual environment for our residents."

Pilgrim's Landing offers assisted living rates as low as $1,800 per month. It also provides the first physical therapy program located in an assisted living community, in conjunction with Diversified Rehabilitation of Williamsville, and will collaborate with a psychiatric group for psychiatric support services.

"With Pilgrim's Landing, we are trying to revolutionize the way we care for our seniors in Western New York," said Bowman.

Pilgrim's Landing has been developed by Acquest Development and brokered by Arthur Judelsohn, senior director of Pyramid Brokerage Company of Buffalo.
