Gray Sabres win postseason game

Behind goaltender Collin Mack, the Gray Sabres defeated the Black Sabres, 8-5, on Sunday in the first round of the Micron playoffs.

Gray Sabre Sean MaCleay dominated the ice with four goals. Spencer Frome followed his lead with two goals and two assists.

Alec Cicero and Lorenzo Zendano each added goals to ice the score. Andrew Bruno, Charleigh Rondeau, Matt Beilinski, Ryan Meade, Vincent Orlowski and Miles Izdorcyk played solid defense, limiting the Black Sabre rush.

Despite the loss, the Black Sabres came out firing on all cylinders, taking a quick lead on two goals from Kevin Halpern and one each by Eric Cretella and Eric Metz.

Jack Smith added a late goal, but it wasn't enough to catch the fired-up Gray Sabres. Skyler Derose, Will Redding, Ryan Chambers, Ethan Barnes, Jon Kubiak, Derek Andrews and Nick Smith all showed tremendous effort.

Both goaltenders stopped great shots and made fabulous saves. Tyler Rossi, riding a two-game win streak, couldn't pull off the win. The Gray Sabres just wouldn't let up.

At the other end of the ice, Mack held his ground and stopped a few more than Rossi, earning the victory.
