Things are heating up at Buffalo Museum of Science

Scientists around the world studying the impact of humans upon the Earth's ecosystems believe that global climate change is already affecting plants and animals, from tiny beetles and frogs to coral and sea life, to giant polar bears and extensive forests.

Learn more about this when the Buffalo Museum of Science presents "Globeo: Nature's Story of Climate Change," through June 22.

Equipped with touch-screen technology and audio, "Globeo" features discovery stations that encourage visitors to explore migration patterns, forest and mountain regions, deserts, grasslands, wetlands and aquatic regions, urban ecology and rainforests, illustrated with artifacts from the museum's extensive collections.

Special focus will be included on impacts upon the Great Lakes region, both through exhibit elements and enhanced programming, displays and resource materials presented during "Globeo" by local environmental organizations that are partnering with the museum.

A special feature of "Globeo" is the one-of-a-kind multimedia presentation created by Ontario's Science North called "The Climate Change Show." This 20-minute show, presented in its own object-rich interactive theatre, provides an informative yet humorous overview of global warming and climate change through the eyes of some animated narrators and several theatrical special effects. An additional charge of $2 applies to this presentation.

Other events associated with "Globeo" include:

+ "A WNY Conversation About 'An Inconvenient Truth,'" 2 p.m. March 25.

+ Earth Day Celebration at the Tifft Nature Preserve, April 21 and 22.

+ William C. Vaughan Memorial Lecture: "The Singing Life of Birds," with speaker Donald Kroodsma, 7 p.m. April 25; free.
