Tax preparation services available at UB North

Students in the University at Buffalo's School of Management who belong to Beta Alpha Psi, the national honor society for accounting and finance students, will offer free tax preparation services to the Western New York community this tax season.

The free service will be available to individuals and families with an annual income of less than $39,000. Tax preparation services will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 24 and 25 and April 7, 8, 14 and 15 in 143 Park Hall on UB's North Amherst Campus.

To participate, candidates must bring proof of identification; Social Security card; date of birth for self, spouse and dependents; wage and earning statements (forms W-2 and 1099) from all employers; interest and dividend statements from banks (form 1099); a copy of last year's federal and state tax returns, if available; and bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit.

Tax preparation for nonresident aliens requires special processing that is beyond the scope of the services provided by Beta Alpha Psi. UB international students on a nonimmigrant visa should visit UB's International Student and Scholar Services at http://wings.buffalo. edu/intlservices/workdesc.html#tax for more information.

Questions about this service at the Park Hall site can be sent to Tim Hilker, Beta Alpha Psi president, at tmhilker@buffalo.edu, or Cynthia Shore, assistant dean for corporate and community relations, at cshore@buffalo.edu.
