Red Wings start postseason strong

The Pee Wee Red Wings and Bruins took the ice on Sunday for their first playoff game of the season.

In the first period, both teams skated very strong. Both Red Wings goalie Jake Griebner and Bruins goalie Todd Huber were outstanding between the pipes.

The second period opened the scoring for the Red Wings with Brian Bookbinder hitting the net assisted by Matt Hyer and Matt O'Dwyer.

The Bruins took a lot of penalties during the period and the Red Wings really kept the pressure on. Kevin Annese, Jonathan Hayman, Robert Stricko, Andrew Kreppel, Chandler Stone, O'dwyer and Hyer worked very hard on offense while Will Tunkey, Josh Gidwitz, Brent Crawford and Nathaniel May along with Griebner kept the Bruins scoreless through two periods. Hayman made the score 2-0 with just a ew seconds left in the period.

In the third period, the Bruins came within one with Herman scoring from Aichinger. But the Wings were able to hold the Bruins off for the 2-1 win.
