Red Wings soar past Sharks Fans witnessed some exciting hockey on Sunday when the Mite Red Wings hosted the Sharks at the Amherst Pepsi Center. The Sharks won 6-1. The Red Wings opened the scoring when Conner Wagner, assisted by Josh Knauf, beat Sharks goalie Holden Greene to start the action. The Sharks answered back shortly thereafter when Sal DiNatale put a shot on net, with an assist from Tom Cruver, to get one by Red Wings goaltender Ryan O'Donnell. DiNatale scored another goal in the first period to give the Sharks the lead. The goaltending duo of the Red Wings' O'Donnell and the Sharks' Greene kept turning away shot after shot to keep the game scoreless in the second period despite great efforts from Sharks' DiNatale, Reed Bihary, Bennett Levy, Dave Mattew and Cruver along with Red Wings' Brenden DesRosiers, Robby Marshall, Matt Terrance and Conner Tanevich. The Sharks opened up the scoring in the third period with goals from Nick Daigler, Allison Attea, Maddy Utz and Michael Woods. The Sharks also had outstanding plays made by Dylan Utz, Michael Krasinski and Ben Glajch. Although the Sharks won the game there were outstanding efforts from the Red Wings' McKenna Rushford, Matt Grugnale, John Falvey, Joel Giambra, Andrew Czora, Brendan Condren, Courtney Cavarello, Brandon Zielinski and Camaron McMahon. The Sharks also had some luck brought to them with the return of Alex LaMattina, who was able to come out to route on his team. |
