Black Sabres shut out Bruins, 4-0, in third playoff meeting

The Mite Black Sabres and Bruins met in the third game of the playoffs and both teams were eager to win. The Black Sabres were beaten by the Bruins the last time they met and were ready for a comeback.

From early on, the Bruins defense was very strong. Play was tight between the two teams and it wasn't until 3:20 to go in the first period that the first goal was scored - an all-line effort by the Black Sabres with the goal scored by Noah Rosenthal off Nick Pieri. The first period ended 1-0 in favor of the Black Sabres.

In the second period, Nick Carbone made a run on goal and the rebound was picked up by Zachary Gannon who made a quick pass to Dan Mosher for a tally with 6:40 to go in the second period.

The third period started with the score 2-0. The Bruins defense continued to thwart all scoring attempts by the Black Sabres and the battles on the boards were hard fought and even.

A faceoff in the Black Sabres end zone resulted in Black Sabres goaltender Jacob Ostrowski knocking it away from the net. Elliot Whittaker picked up a shot to the boards from Hunter Noll and skated the full length of the ice and slid it past the Bruins goalie to score the third goal for the Black Sabres with 6:50 remaining.

The final goal was scored when Aaron Bengart was able to knock the puck away from Drewery of the Bruins and pass it to Carbone who made a beautiful run down the ice, an impressive fake out near goal and whipped the puck past the Bruins goalie Donhauser.

Mention must be made of a strong defensive effort by the Bruins and their breakaways by Demarco, Drewery and Garrety.

The final score was 4-0 to the Black Sabres, although the game was closer than the score indicated.

The Black Sabres' game puck went to Ostrowski for an outstanding effort in goal.
