Buffalo In-Line Hockey Group
Heat lose, Raiders win

The fourth week of Buffalo In-line Hockey Group's spring season saw one division leader lose for the first time and another division leader solidify their lead.

Junior Division

Demons 9, Heat 5

The Heat came into the day on top of the division and without a loss. That all changed as the Demons got five goals from Kevin Eberth (Cheektowaga) to offset four goals from Matt Guiga (Amherst) and handed the Heat their first loss. Eberth scored 24 seconds into the game and some 26 seconds later, Jesse Van- Dyne (Kenmore) made it 2-0 for the Demons. That set the tone and allowed the Demons to jump into a first place tie with the Heat atop the division.

Major Division

Raiders 12, Aces 4

The Major division leading Raiders proved that they were the class of the division with this triumph over the second place Aces. Taylor Setlock's (Tonawanda), and Scott Sciolino (Tonawanda) each had a hat trick. Brad Owns (Tonawanda) countered with three goals of his own.

Major Division

Flyers 7, Sabres 5

The Sabres have been a tough defensive minded team this year while looking for goals scoring. On Saturday, they erupted for five goals behind a hat trick by Evan Dressel (Amherst) but couldn't hold down the division's Player of the Week Rob Russell (Tonawanda), who scored five times, added two assists and was a force all over the rink.

Machine 7, Blues 4

League leading goal scorer Roy Wasiewicz (Cheektowaga) continued his assault as he scored five times for the Machine. Tied at 3-3 after the first period, the Blues' normally potent offense was held in check in this penalty filled affair.

Green Berets 11, Bandits 9

The highest scoring major game of the day was tied at 9-9 with 48 seconds to play in regulation when Austin Newman (Tonawanda) decided he didn't wanted the game to end and drilled his third of the game. An empty-net goal by John Lyons (Amherst) gave him five for the Green Berets. Brett Jablonski (Cheektowaga) turned in an outstanding effort with four goals for the Bandits.

Junior Division

Gray Ghosts 12, Red Raiders 10

Offensive-minded hockey continued in this junior division game that saw Josh Vaccaro (Amherst) and Zac Carlisle (Tonawanda) each score five times for the victors. Jim Krolikowski (Tonawanda) scored six times for the Raiders. Zac Wieand (Amherst) had four goals.

Goodfellas 7, Blades 2

The Fellas got a hat trick from Brian Cutting (Amherst) and strong defensive play from Grichen, Dressel, Mayer, Baranyi, Dentinger and Davidson to earn their second win of the season.
