Anthony J. DiQuilio, retired Williamsville science teacher

Anthony J. DiQuilio, 78, of Amherst, a retired Williamsville Central School District science teacher, died Wednesday, Feb, 28, 2007, in Bristol Village in Clarence Center.

Born in Buffalo, Mr. DiQuilio graduated from Riverside High School, received an undergraduate degree from the University at Buffalo and a master's degree from Buffalo State College.

Before he could get his New York State Teaching Certificate, he was drafted into the Army, serving two years as a medic in the 6th Infantry Regiment in Berlin, Germany. He was promoted to noncommissioned officer in charge of preventive medicine and was discharged in 1957.

Mr. DiQuilio was hired by Trico-Buffalo in 1959 where he met Marian Kozlowski and married in June 1959. He returned to UB to get his teaching certificate in the fall of 1959.

Soon after, he was hired by the Williamsville Central School District as a science teacher at Mill Middle School. He worked 31 years, retiring in 1990.

Mr. DiQuilio also taught driver's education and coached Williamsville freshman football for 10 years.

After retirement, he worked for six years as a cashier at Rite Aid on Maple and North Forest in Williamsville.

Mr. DiQuilio volunteered at the Amherst Senior Services as a Meals on Wheels helper and was a member of the Erie County Water Authority's "flavor" panel where he evaluated the county's drinking water.

Mr. DiQuilio is survived by a daughter, Carol J. of Spring Branch, Texas, and a brother, Mario S.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, March 5 in St. Gregory the Great Church following prayers at the (Amherst Chapel) Amigone Funeral Home.
