Charges pressed in connection with five residential burglaries The Erie County Sheriff's Department and Amherst police have charged a suspect in connection with five residential burglaries. Colin Moar, 31, of Bird Avenue in Buffalo was charged last week with numerous felony counts of burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property in connection with a summer burglary spree. The suspect had been held since September 2006 for related charges. As a result of Moar's September arrest, two search warrants were executed in the City of Buffalo and numerous stolen items, including laptop computers, jewelry and electronics were recovered. Further investigation led to charges in the residential burglaries, Detective Alan Rozansky of the Sheriff's Department said. Moar is accused of five residential burglaries, including on Old Falls Boulevard in Amherst; Pound Road in Elma; Heather Drive in Clarence; and two other cases in Newstead and Grand Island. Police describe Moar's acts as "brazen" because he allegedly kicked in his victims' door in broad daylight. In one instance, in Clarence, an elderly woman was startled when he reportedly kicked in her mudroom door while she was home. Rozansky said Boar's alleged actions had no boundaries as he is suspected of entering homes in two counties and five towns. "This is a good case of departments cooperating," Rozansky said. Detectives Rozansky and Dennis Fitzgibbons from the Sheriff's Department have been assisting Amherst detectives with the case. |
