Fix wins Stevie award Lauren Fix, The Car Coach, won a Stevie Award for Best Marketing Campaign of the Year in the Stevie Awards for Women in Business Saturday night in New York City. The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives and entrepreneurs - and the companies they run worldwide. Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word "crowned," winners were announced during ceremonies at New York's Marriott Marquis Hotel. More than 180 nominated women executives and entrepreneurs from the U.S. and several other countries attended. In winning the Stevie, Fix, a Williamsville resident, beat out other finalists including many large public relations and marketing firms. Fix was presented the Stevie by Carolyn Kepcher, from "The Apprentice." "This is such a great honor," said Fix. "When I saw the hurricanes hit the south, it upset me to see all the loss. The flooded cars are a dreadful reminder. Even worse is that these vehicles are infected with disease and safety flaws. I knew that it was my mission to help potential victims and consumers." Stevie Awards were presented in 34 categories including Best Entrepreneur, Best Executive, Lifetime Achievement, and Women Helping Women. More than 600 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration. Fix, the Car Coach, is a nationally recognized automotive expert in car care, repair, safety issues, buying and selling new and used cars and trucks, and driving skills. She has written articles and been quoted in USA Today, Good Housekeeping, Redbook, Woman's World and Self and contributes to automotive magazines. She has authored two books, her third book, "Lauren Fix's The Essential Guide To Car Smarts" with St. Martin Press, will be out in February 2008. Fix's broadcast experience includes Oprah, The View, TODAY, CNN, FOX News, as well as TBS Makeover and a Movie to name a few. Lauren is also the host of Talk 2 DIY Automotive, airing in its fourth season. The Stevie trophy was designed by R. S. Owens, the same company that makes the Oscar and the Emmy.
