Buffalo Wings Lacrosse Club announces 2007-08 registration, tryouts Registration for the 2007-08 season for Buffalo Wings Lacrosse Club, the area's premier girls travel club lacrosse program, is now open for girls who will graduate high school in 2008-2011. Players may download the current membership packet at www.buffalowingslacrosse. com. Tryouts for team placement are scheduled for Saturday, March 10. The class of 2010 and 2011 should check in from 1:30 to 1:50 with tryouts set for 2 p.m. The 2008 and 2009 classes should check in from 3 to 3:20 p.m. with tryouts beginning at 3 p.m. Players must pre-register for tryouts via e-mail only to Kim Balcerzak at kajtbal@adelphia.net. Upon receipt of e-mail, players will be sent the tryout registration form detailing all tryout information, as well as a player profile to complete in advance of tryouts. The tryout registration deadline is March 1. A tryout fee of $5 must be paid at check in. Buffalo Wings accepts players from high schools across the area. The season begins right after high school lacrosse season winds down, allowing for an easy transition from school play to travel club play. Through Buffalo Wings, players build their teamwork skills, get expert instruction from the area's best lacrosse coaches to stay at the top of their game, learn about rule changes from the US Lacrosse League and how to hardwire those rules into their game, and participate in tournaments for valuable competitive play and exposure to local and national college recruiters. For 2007-08, Buffalo Wings will have three travel teams - red for advanced-level players who are highly committed to the sport, white for intermediate-level players, and blue for players who have some previous lacrosse experience and want to expand their knowledge of the game while enhancing their skill levels. Each level focuses on specific skills appropriate for that group as well as individual player goals. Buffalo Wings coaches determine players for each division based upon skill level, performance at tryouts, attendance at practices, attitude, maturity, sportsmanship, and commitment to the team and fellow players. Future plans include the institution of a development level program for young girls who want to learn the fundamentals of the game and help them prepare for participation on their school teams. Details on this new addition to Buffalo Wings will be coming soon. For more information, visit www.buffalowingslacrosse. com or call 531-2705. |
