Sweet Home's Hagen qualifies for indoor state meet Jacob Hagen will represent Sweet Home's indoor track program at the New York State Championships on Saturday at Cornell University. Hagen placed third in the 1000-meters at Saturday's Section VI Championships at Fredonia State College with a time of 2:39.91. He will run in the intersectional relay at the state meet. Hagen also placed fourth at sectionals in the 1600 and anchored the team's third place 4x800 relay. Ryan Hughson, Mike Bakowski, and Ryan Poley also ran the event. Andrew Hopkins threw the shot put for third. Poley and Megan Niblock each placed fifth in the 600. Williamsville East Williamsville East's season concluded with some great performances at sectionals. Junior Greg French led the way with a fourth place finish in the 55-meter hurdles in a season-best time of 8.43 seconds. Junior Andy McDonald used a season-best time of 10:24 in the 3200 to finish fifth overall. Later in the meet, McDonald led off, and French anchored, the Flames to a sixth place finish in the 1600 relay, with junior Matt Pawlicki and sophomore Fernando Recio running very strong legs in between. Sophomore Dan Egan set a personal and season best mark in the long jump, leaping 17-11, good enough for ninth in the section. The Flames look forward to significant improvements for the upcoming outdoor track season. |
