Farmers' Market to begin in June at Water Mill
by JILL SCHMELZER Reporter

A farmers' market will be held from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday from June to October, 2007, at the Williamsville Water Mill, located at 56 E. Spring St.

Lynn Schwab of Williamsville said so far 10 vendors have signed up to participate in the weekly event, including a cheese maker and vineyard and sausage vendors.

Schwab said she got the idea for the market after she asked a pedestrian in the village what she would like to see in Williamsville.

"It resonated with me, so I took the idea and ran with it," Schwab said. "I talked to the mayor and she supported it."

It is also backed by the Williamsville Business Association, she added.

Entertainment will be provided during some of the Saturday markets, including a professional story teller and cooking demonstrator who are interested, Schwab said.

"It will have a festival feel," she said.

After talking with farmers, the committee decided to extend the market through October, rather than just August as they had originally planned.

The kick off date is yet to be determined, however, it will be in June, Schwab said, noting fruits and vegetables will be just coming into season.

For more information or to inquire about being a vendor, call Schwab at 632-7938.
