In the Military

Army Pfc. Jesus G. Mendoza of Amherst has deployed to the Iraqi theater of operations to support the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a member of the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry, the "Black Lions," Fourth Infantry Combat Brigade, First Infantry Division based at Fort Riley, Junction City, Kan. Mendoza is an infantryman with one year of military service and is the son of Nina S. and stepson of James K. Wagner of Amherst.
