New U.B. Division seminar to implement career changes

Somewhere along the way, many residents of the Buffalo-Niagara region left their career dreams behind because life got in the way.

Now these citizens are working unfulfilling jobs, hitting that glass ceiling or simply having trouble getting back into the job market after years away. In addition, in a region experiencing corporate downsizing there are many researching plans for reinvention. They believe they have nowhere to turn. But with the help of the new University at Buffalo Division of Continuing and Professional Studies that's simply not the case anymore.

The Division understands these life transitions and will present a seminar "Planning Your Career - Your Life" from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at University at Diefendorf Hall, Center for Children and Families on the south campus.

The seminar will teach participants to take action, plan for their futures and successfully market themselves in today's world. In addition, attendees will hear a panel discussion that will jump-start career development.

"The first step towards career transformation is recognizing the need for change and committing yourself to that change," said Tonnalee Batchelor, Coordinator of Outreac h and Workforce Development at University at Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center.

The Division of Continuing and Professional Studies was created to expand the range of academic and workforce development programs offered in the Western New York community. Through a variety of programs and services, the division fulfills educational needs through the attainment of academic courses, certificates and degrees, as well as personal enrichment. It draws from the intellectual community at UB.

The price of the seminar is $25 and includes a continental breakfast, informational workshops, course materials and the opportunity to network with instructors and professionals. Register early by calling 829-3131 or e-mail mfcadmin@buffa lo.edu. For additional information, visit www. mfc. buffalo. edu.
