North seniors look to the future
by LAUREN HALL

Williamsville North Student Council proudly recognizes the outstanding achievements of two members of its senior class each month. Students featured in this column are selected by faculty recommendation. The Senior Spartan Spots for February are Jillian Piaggione and Jeffrey Stulmaker.

Piaggione, daughter of John and Robin Piaggione of East Amherst, succeeds as a scholar, an athlete, and a leader. She is ranked academically in the top 15 students of the class of 2007 and is the president of North's National Honor Society Chapter.

A dedicated athlete, Piaggione is a five-year member of the varsity soccer team, which she captained this year. For soccer, she has been recognized to the first team All-ECIC three times and honorable mention All-Western New York twice. Piaggione also captains the varsity basketball team and plays varsity lacrosse.

Piaggione contributes to her community by serving as a Kaleida Health junior volunteer at Women and Children's Hospital, and a volunteer for Amherst YES and the Response to Love Center.

Next year, Piaggione will attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a possible major in life sciences.

Stulmaker, son of Mark and Jodi Stulmaker of East Amherst, has led the class of 2007 as treasurer in ninth and 10th grades and as class secretary this year. He is also an involved member of Student Council and Math Honor Society.

Stulmaker participates in the performing arts at North both on stage and behind the scenes. He plays the saxophone in Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble. He is the stage crew chief and has acted as head of sound for the acclaimed musicals and Drama Club productions for the past three years.

Outside of school, Stulmaker volunteers at his temple and is an employee of Manhattan Bagel. He also owns and operates his own disc jockey business, serving the area for five years.

Stulmaker plans to attend the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute next year.
