Amherst prepares for kindergarten

Next school year may seem a long way off, but the Amherst School District is already thinking about the new kindergarten class for the 2007-08 school year.

Letters will be sent home to the families with older children registered in the district and to those families who have already contacted the schools for information on the kindergarten program.

Residents that do not have children enrolled in school and have a child who will be 5 years old by Dec. 1, 2007, should contact either Smallwood Drive Elementary at 362-2100 or Windermere Boulevard Elementary at 362-4100 for information on the kindergarten orientation in April and kindergarten screening in May.
