Philip B. Panepento, 91, formerly of Kenmore, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006.
Born in LeRoy, N.Y., Mr. Panepento
was the eldest
of 16 children.
He graduated from LeRoy High School. He apprenticed with his father, Frank C. Panepento, and later with the original owner of Kenmore Hardware on Elmwood Avenue.
Mr. and Mrs. Panepento later became Kenmore merchant owners of Kenmore Hardware for 16 years. They then expanded the business to include Kenmore Maintenance and Hardware as well as P&G Employment in Tuscon, Ariz.
Mr. Panepento eventually sold the business to his brother, Samuel, and it became Penny's Hardware.
In addition to doing business in Kenmore, Mr. Panepento was the president of the Kenmore and LeRoy Bowling associations and the Kenmore-Tonawanda Knights of Columbus.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Edmund's Church in Tonawanda.
