Buffalo-Inline Hockey Group One of the most prolific scorers in Western New York youth in-line hockey has been Pat Smith (Amherst). Buffalo In-line Hockey Group opened its spring season last Saturday and Smith let everyone know that it would be more of the same. Smith earned major division Player of the Week as he scored seven times, including the game winner in a shootout, which carried the Blues to a 14-12 win over the Flyers. Scott McLaughlin (Amherst) added four for the winners with Josh Grant (Kenmore) scoring five times and Justin Banaszak (Cheektowaga) chipping in a hat trick and four assists. In other action: Major Division Black Aces 17, Bandits 3 Last season's MVP David Campuzano (Grand Island) had four goals and five assists, Zac Robinson (Cheektowaga) recorded a double hat trick and Calvin Waley (Cheektowaga) and Kurt Knowell (Amherst) had hat tricks for the Aces. Brett Jablonski scored a hat trick for the Bandits. Raiders 13, Sabres 1 Taylor Setlock's (Tonawanda) three goals, five assists, Scott Sciolino's (Tonawanda) four goals and Nick Durante's (Tonawanda) hat trick led the Raiders, who had Tyler Anderson (North Tonawanda) in net. Green Berets 12, Mean Machine 7 John Lyons (Amherst), Austin Newman (Tonawanda) and Adam Rainey (Tonawanda) each scored four times for the Berets. John Berg (Williamsville) had three assists. Zac Carslisle (Tonawanda) had a hat trick and Roy Wasiewicz had four goals for the Machine. Junior Division Demos 4, Gray Ghosts 3 Jesse VanDyne (Tonawanda) scored late in the third period to give the Demons the win. Kevin Eberth (Cheektowaga) scored twice for the victors. Zac Carslisle, a 12-year old who plays in the major and junior division, had two for the Ghosts. Heat 8, Raiders 2 Junior division Player of the Week P.J. Anders (Amherst) led the Heat with a hat trick and three assists. Alex Spatzer (Kenmore) had a couple goals for the Heat and Jim Krolikowski (Clarence) had both Ghost tallies. Matt Baran (Tonawanda) got the win in net. Blades 7, Blackhawks 5 The Blades got seven goals from six different players in a shootout win. Greg Newman (Tonawanda) scored a couple for the Blades. Christian Curtola (Amherst) had a hat trick and two assists for the Hawks. Buffalo In-line Hockey Group is the premier youth in-line hockey league in Erie County and plays every Saturday morning at the EPIC Center on Wehrle Dr. in Amherst.
