Rhona Repp, math teacher A memorial service for Rhona Repp was held Sunday, Feb. 4 at Christ United Methodist Church. Mrs. Repp, 88, formerly of Amherst, a math teacher, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, in Wilmington, Del. Born Rhona Garvey in Buffalo, she graduated from South Park High School. She received a bachelor's degree from the University at Buffalo, where she was honored by her election to Phil Beta Kappa. In later years, she also completed her graduate school studies at UB. She was a lifetime member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. Mrs. Repp was a teacher in Wilson, N.Y., before she married Delbert H. They were married for 48 years. He died in 1990. Except for a time during World War II, when she joined her husband in San Francisco while he was stationed in the U. S. Navy, they lived in Amherst. In Amherst, she tutored math for several years before resuming her teaching career. Beginning in the 1970s, she taught math part-time at The Park School, Williamsville School District and Amherst Central High School. She was a charter member of the Christ United Methodist Church, where she participated in many activities. She moved to Wilmington in 2001. Her family said though she lived her last years in Delaware to be near her children, she spoke of returning to Buffalo. Mrs. Repp is survived by a son, Sheldon Del, of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Lauren Kusner, of Wilmington, Del.; and three grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Christ United Methodist Church. Arrangements were made by the Harry A. Wedekindt Funeral Home. |
