Children fighting cancer given a day of pampering at Vogue Salon and Day Spa

Hannah Kyre, of Lancaster, receives her first haircut since undergoing cancer treatmenton Sunday at Vogue Salon and Day Spa, Los Robles Street, Williamsville.
Some very special girls received some "extra tender loving care" for this Valentine's holiday at Vogue Salon & Day Spa in Williamsville on Sunday. Girls from Camp Good Days & Special Times, which provides services for children coping with cancer, were treated, along with their mothers, to a morning of pampering.

For the third consecutive year, employees from Vogue Salon and Day Spa, located on Los Robles Street, worked on their day off to treat 10 young girls dealing with cancer and their mothers to manicures, pedicures, haircuts, facials and massages.

The three owners of Vogue Salon, Teresa Lapi, Chris Piggot and Debbie Principale, said they felt very fortunate to have the ability to open up their services to this group from Camp Good Days.

"It's a wonderful feeling to know that we can help bring smiles to the faces of these young girls," Lapi said. "I am so glad we can offer a day when they can forget about their illness and make them feel like queens."

"Those few hours spent with just us girls meant the world to me," said Brandy Vanburen, a former participant in the Spa event. "It offered me a chance to break away from the constant hospital appointments and treatment. I was able to talk freely about what I've been through as a young cancer patient, and I was also able to listen to similar stories from other girls my age. Plus, being pampered was so much fun."
