Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital to offer flu shots Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital will provide flu shots to any person 4 years of age and older from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17. The event is open to the public, is free of charge and requires no insurance information; however, proper ID is required, and a parent or legal guardian must accompany children. Vaccines will be administered in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, 1540 Maple Road. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Though preventable, influenza causes an average of 36,000 deaths in the United States each year. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recognizes the best way to prevent contracting influenza is with an annual flu shot. As a result, the CDC has launched an aggressive campaign in hopes of reaching a vaccination goal of 90 percent of adults age 65 and older by 2010. It is advised, however, that all persons at high risk be administered the influenza vaccination. |
