Roswell Park seeks Team Cure Challengers
If walking under gray winter skies has prompted some people to search for a more inspiring fitness outlet, they can now do so in a sunnier clime.
Roswell Park Cancer Institute is seeking adults ages 18 and older to participate in its Team Cure California Challenges, with training beginning in February.
All participants will receive customized fitness training to get ready for the event of their choice: the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon on June 3 or the San Francisco Marathon, Half-Marathon or 5K on July 29.
Entrants can walk or run, and no experience is required. They can also take part in weekly group runs on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.
Participants can challenge themselves for a New Year's resolution, run or walk in honor of a loved one, or take on the experience as a cancer survivor.
Thousands of people from across the country will share in the memories.
Plus, participants will receive complimentary airfare, hotel, meals and more when they meet the minimum Team Cure fund-raising goal.
To date, 140 Team Cure participants have raised more than $300,000 for Roswell Park through this alternative to traditional fund-raising.
Details about both races will be covered at upcoming information sessions and online at www.teamcure.com. For more information, call 845-8788.
