Feb. 17 Cross-country Skiing, Snowshoeing and/or Nature Walks Penn-Dixie Site in Hamburg, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, led by a naturalist. Snowshoe Patrol at Fort Niagara State Park Go on a winter patrol from 2 to 4 p.m. through the woods with costumed re-enactors and learn about 18th-century winter travel, then return to the fort for warm beverages and hands-on activities. Feb. 20 Snowshoe Walk Try out a pair of snowshoes or bring your own and enjoy a 10 a.m. tour of the Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve in winter. Will walk if there is no snow. Advance registration required. Snowshoe rental, $2 per pair/free for FORNP members. The preserve is located at 93 Honorine Drive in Depew. Feb. 22 Polar Bites 2007 Take a bite out of winter and join the Buffalo Zoo for culinary specialties, along with wines and brews from some of the area's finest establishments. This wildly popular fundraiser will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
