Back-to-back wins for Black Sabres at Friendship Tournament

The Mite Black Sabres had a convincing 9-3 victory over the Court Group Red Jersey team from Burlington on Saturday at the Amherst Pepsi Center.

Shortly after in the same lineup, a Court Group player broke away, faked out the Black Sabre defense and scored. Mosher made a great blocking attempt by throwing himself on the ice but just missed the puck with his stick.

Aaron Bengart made a great save from a breakaway by the Court Group towards the end of the period, but they stole it back and scored to take a 2-1 lead.

The second period saw the Black Sabres firing shots. Nick Pieri's shot to the net was blocked but Noah Bachwitz was able to keep the puck in the Court Group scoring end. Jacob Ostrowski took control and scored.

Less than a minute later, after a battle between Bachwitz, Noah Rosenthal and the opposition, Rosenthal was able to knock it at the net and score. The next goal came from the Court Group on a breakaway to tie it at 3-3 with 7:28 to go in the second period.

The Black Sabres took control of the game at this time. Zachary Gannon scored two goals in 11 seconds - the first assisted by Spencer Maranto and Bengart, and the second by stealing the puck from the opposition and charging towards the net. The period ended 5-3 in favor of the Black Sabres.

Gannon completed a natural hat trick in the third period with an assist from Bengart who knocked a beautiful shot down the boards that Gannon took to the net.

Mosher scored the next two goals by running with a shot to the boards from Ostrowski and then taking control of a shot to the end zone by Carbone.

Half a minute later, Gannon chased a pass into the Black Sabre scoring zone from Maranto and scored his fourth of the game.
