Stumpf boys compete in Rochester

The Level 4, 5 and 6 teams from Stumpf's Gymnastics recently competed at an upstate local meet in Rochester. The teams fielded four all-around champions and saw several others reach the podium.
Hunter Sullivan, of the Level 4 team, was the all-around champion of the 6-7 year old age group. He was also first on floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, and parallel bars. Teammate Anthony Gallo was second all-around and on floor. Gallo was also high bar champion with a score of 8.80. Elliot Gengo earned fourth place all-around. Gengo's performance was highlighted by a 9.50 vault, which earned first place.
Mitch Perlstein was second place all-around in the 8-9 age group. He was also second on high bar and third on rings. Andrew Searns was fourth all-around and third on high bar. Searns also executed a solid floor routine, which earned first place. Austin Martin was seventh all-around. Additionally, Martin had a pair of second place finishes on rings and parallel bars. Brandon Cooley placed ninth all-around and on rings and Blake Lang was 15th overall.
Nine-year old Joshua Menegaux led the Level 5 team, earning 54.85 all-around and first place in the 7-9 division. Menegaux was also champion of the pommel horse, high bar and parallel bars with a stellar 9.40. Stephen Frost, in his first meet since returning to Buffalo, turned in a third place performance. Frost also had a 9.35 on the rings, which earned first place. Spencer Henley was fourth all around. Henley's performance was highlighted by a third place on rings and second on floor exercise. Nicholas Rey was seventh all-around with a pair of sixth place finishes on floor and parallel bars. Griffin Ingerson was eighth all-around and sixth on rings and Dylan Arena was 13th overall and seventh on floor.
Bram Houston, of the 10-11 division, finished the day with a first place performance of 53.75 all-around. Houston was also first on floor and second on pommel horse and rings. Matthew Salvati was a close second with a 53.50. Additionally, Salvati was the rings and pommel horse champion and earned second on parallel bars. Luke Penner, who finished 14th overall, tied Frost with a team-high 9.5 on vault that earned fifth place in the division.
Level 6 champion Mack Lasker competed in the 8-9 age group. Lasker was second on floor and high bar, third on vault and parallel bars and was the pommel horse champion with a 9.10. Teammate Brian Shepard finished fourth in the 12 and over group. Shepard was second on parallel bars and third on pommel horse, vault and high bar.
