Bette B. Gelsinger, 85, of Northport, Maine, a retired Williamsville teacher, died at home on Feb. 3, 2007.
Born in Buffalo, she was raised in Williamsville and graduated valedictorian of her high school class in 1938. She subsequently obtained her baccalaureate and master's degree in education from Buffalo State Teacher's College. She taught primary education at Williamsville's Academy School, taking time off to raise three children. She retired from teaching in 1975 after 25 years of service.
During her retirement, Mrs. Gelsinger spent time traveling with her husband John and was very active in community life in Williamsville. She was a devoted and active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Williamsville.
Mrs. Gelsinger is survived by her husband of 64 years, John H.; two sons, John of Northport, and Michael of East Aurora; also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
