SENIOR NEWS The following events will take place at the Amherst Center for Senior Services, 350 John James Audubon Parkway. For more information, call 636-3059. Spaghetti Dinner will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7. It will be sponsored by the Amherst Meals on Wheels. Mardi Gras will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8. The cost is $2. The Am-Center Camera Club will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13. Valentine Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14. Health Insurance Options will be presented at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15 in activity room B. King of the Wok will celebrate the Chinese New Year at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15. Wai Tung Cheung will teach how to cook lo mein noodles, mixed vegetables and wonton soup. Amherst Travel Club will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20. Book Lovers' Club will meet and discuss "Namesake" by Jhumpa Lahiri at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22. The next book will be "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire. Stay in Control of Your Health will be presented from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22. Income Tax Filing is being offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays during February, March and April. Call for an appointment. Dinner Club will meet again in March. Table Tennis/Ping-Pong is played in activity room A from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and from 9:30 a.m. to noon in activity room B. The Quilt Club meets at 12:30 p.m. Mondays. New members are always welcome. Lunch Menu The cost of lunch is $2.25 for Erie County residents age 60 & older. For reservations, call 636-3059. Wednesday, Feb. 7 - Two stuffed shells with meat sauce, spinach and grape juice. Thursday, Feb. 8 - Baked fish with shrimp sauce, diced carrots and scalloped potatoes. Friday, Feb. 9 - Sliced roast beef with gravy and horseradish, ranch mashed potatoes. Monday, Feb. 12 - Chili con carne with unsalted crackers, white rice and green beans. Tuesday, Feb. 13 - Cabbage roll with savory sauce, diced creamed potatoes and peas. Wednesday, Feb. 14 - Breaded pork chops, carrots, and cauliflower with parsley. Thursday, Feb. 15 - Turkey tetrazzini, corn, blended juice and a biscuit. Friday, Feb. 16 - Vegetable quiche with cheese sauce and potato wedges. | |||||
