Amherst High School presents stories of Dr. Seuss in 'Seussical the Musical'
by JILL SCHMELZER, Reporter
Amherst Central High School students

Dan Licata, the Cat in the Hat, rehearses with Irene Krahling, sophomore, who plays "JoJo." Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9 and at 1 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 in the school auditorium, 4301 Main St.

will take to the stage. "Seussical the Musical" will be like turning the page. With the Cat in the Hat and Gertrude McFuzz, the performance will be sure to create quite the buzz.

Curtain up begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, so don't be late. Two performances will follow that are sure to be great.

They will be at 1 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 at 4301 Main St. Come and tap to the beat.

The lights will be bright and so will the characters; join them together in all of their laughter.

The Cat in the Hat, played by Dan Licata, has lots of stories to tell. You'll hoot. You'll holler. You'll even give a big yell.

Through song and dance the Cat will prance along the stage. Again it will be like turning the page.

Enter Mayzie the bird, played by Cydney Kramer. She's showy and shallow, but can you blame her?

She has a little too much fun and ends up with an egg, I guess it's better than breaking a leg.

She gives it to Jonathan Stecker, who plays Horton the Elephant. Only you can decide whether her actions were relevant.

She tells him it's temporary but knows it won't be. It's quite the contrary; come and you'll see.

"He's caring and generous," Stecker said. "My character can't catch a break."

So tell me dear reader, what is your take?

Should he tell Mayzie "no"? Wait and see at the end. When the scenes come together, what a message he'll send.

Annise Celano will play Gertrude McFuzz. She falls in love with the elephant just as everyone does.

She said, "It's so cool and so fun." You will see when it's done.

The evening is filled with lessons you'll see. Admission will cost just a small fee.
