Celebrating children

The 10th annual Hunter's Day of Hope for Children will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the Buffalo Bills Field House, One Bills Drive, Orchard Park.

All area families are invited to attend the free event sponsored by the Hunter's Hope Foundation, where games, entertainment and refreshments will be on hand. "This event is a celebration of all children, as we encourage parents to love and value these special gifts of life from God," said NFLHall of Famer and former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly. Kelly and his wife, Jill, founded the Hunter's Hope Foundation in 1997 after their infant son, Hunter, was diagnosed with Krabbe Leukodystrophy, a fatal, degenerative nervous system disease. Hunter died Aug. 5, 2005, at the age of 8.

The family entertainment includes Nickel City Reptiles and Exotics, Rince Na Tiarna Irish Dancers, Christian Central Academy's Children's Chorus, Shepherd's Troupe, Mary Alice Dance, Wahl Performing Arts, Attica Central High School and more.

Activities and games include the quarterback challenge, bounce house, clowns, quizmaster, 4-H Club and Faces of Buffalo. Carlson Studio of Photography will take free family photos. "Messages of Joy," written by the public within butterfly shapes, will be on exhibit. For information about writing and submitting messages, call 667-1200 or visit www. huntershope. org.
